Te Papa Foundation works alongside Te Papa to understand the museum’s work and identify areas where additional funding could make the greatest impact. By connecting donors with these opportunities, the Foundation enables meaningful giving that contributes to national cultural outcomes. Its flagship Gala, held each year, celebrates New Zealand’s artistic excellence and cultural vibrancy, offering an elegant and engaging evening for both long-time donors and new prospects.

The Gala required a communications campaign that made existing donors feel valued, excited new prospects, and clearly conveyed the Foundation’s purpose and impact. The campaign needed to reflect the sophistication of the museum and the iconic Toi Art entrance, while remaining warm, inviting, and visually compelling. It also needed to be scalable, cost-effective, and create anticipation, conversation, and engagement around the event.

The campaign, themed “Art. Elegance. Impact.,” delivered a cohesive suite of creative assets that balanced elegance, artistry, and warmth. Visuals featured the Toi Art entrance, architectural details, and textures, with a palette of black, gold, and warm neutrals and subtle metallic accents. Typography and patterns echoed the organic curves and lines of Toi Art, creating a sophisticated yet approachable aesthetic.
Assets included printed and digital invitations, website and social media visuals, digital advertising, and event collateral such as an auction booklet and email signatures, with optional motion graphics to enhance digital communications. This approach created an end-to-end experience that built intrigue, drove attendance, sparked conversation, and engaged audiences with the Foundation’s mission, ensuring the gala was remembered as a highlight of the cultural calendar.
